The weather is cooling down, the leaves have coated the forest floor, and we’re gearing up for Winter. Winter offers the perfect chance to get away by visiting Lakeview Arkansas. We’re looking forward to a cozy, winter getaway to the Ozark Mountains in Arkansas at Gaston’s White River Resort.
Winter
As we begin to head into the New Year, January and February are wonderful wintertime months to stay with us. The weather can be anywhere from the 60’s to lower 30’s and it’s possible that it can be lower than that. February is the month we see a little bit of snow, which usually doesn’t stick around for long. Fishing during these months is also great! Cooler water brings fish closer to the shoreline. So make sure you pack your fishing gear.
There are lots to do in the area that doesn’t involve snow. You can visit one of the many local wineries that specialize in Italian wines. A simple 20-minute drive will put you in Mountain Home, AR. You’ll Enjoy tasting specialty grapes and learning about the fermentation process at Raimondo Winery.
You’ll also want to make you lace up your hiking boots and bundle up. Hiking in the winter time here in Arkansas can be pretty rewarding. As many of the leaves have fallen, viewing areas are often easier to see and access. Plus it’s also easier to spot wildlife if you’re looking for to see animals on your hike. This means that it’s a great time to see Bald Eagles, who like to nest near the White River. The Ozark Mountains are also beautiful this time of year and perfect for days exploring the local topography.
