Guide Profile: Brian Waugh

My name is Brian Waugh. I guide down here at Gaston’s. I started in the mid-90s. I got into it through Clint’s grandpa, Jim. I did a little hiatus—I stopped for a little bit—and now I’m back with Clint.

I love fishing. I’ve fished ever since I was a kid with my grandparents, and I just like taking people out and having fun.

I really like fishing with the kids. I like to see the look on their faces when they realize that, hey, we’re going to catch fish today, and it’s going to be a fun day. We mostly go out and catch rainbows and browns—the bigger fish that we try to catch and release and take pictures of. Every once in a while, we get lucky enough to see a big bald eagle and lots of blue herons.

The aftermath of the winter storm leaves the resort in a quiet blanket of snow. While we enjoy this unique view of the White River, we look forward to the warmth of spring, t-shirts, and fishing trips.
