World-Famous White River

Bull Shoals Lake

Whitewater River feeds the 44,450-acre Bull Shoals Lake providing a source for abundant, first-class water sports. Big bass, walleye, crappie, catfish, trout, and stripers challenge fishermen longing to snag the award-winning trophy fish of the day or to simply bring home a fresh catch for a delicious dinner.

Bull Shoals-White River State Park

Below the Bull Shoals Dam is the Bull Shoals-White River State Park. Nestled in the scenic Ozark Mountains, the park’s splendid old forests and rolling hills create a mystical setting for camping, picnics, hiking, and nature tours.  The area is a winter migration stop for more than 100 eagles. Organized bird walks and lake tours offer the exciting opportunity to see hawks, owls, eagles, and other birds of prey in their natural habitat. 

There are plenty of opportunities to take a path less traveled. Located within the recreation area are ten mapped trails, each featuring diverse Ozark natural wonders. Hikers enjoy breathtaking panoramic vistas, towering trees, colorful wildflowers, woodland animals, and birds. Bull Shoals-White River State Park sponsors annual eco-programs, lessons, workshops, and nature camps. The James A. Gaston Visitor Center is the official welcome center for the recreation area.
